In those people suffering from wheat allergy or a disorder that is referred to as Celiac’s disease a gluten free diet that is free of ingredients that are made from gluten, cereals and wheat as well as barley and rye. Not only should the dieter avoid all of these foods and grains, but they should also avoid foods that are derivatives of these foods and contain additives that have been created from these foods.
An obstacle that many dieters face when trying to follow the gluten free diet is they are simply lacking in fiber and vitamin B as well as other nutrients like calcium. For this reason, it is important for those that are following the gluten free die to take a multivitamin or other type of supplement to ensure that the nutrition is not lacking while the dieter is following the gluten free diet.
There are many recipes available that reduce the amount of gluten and gluten products within the foods that you eat. These recipes can be found on the internet and even through using recipes books to find recipes that contain no gluten or other contaminants that can cause an imbalance within the body that creates a flare up of Celiac’s.
Speaking with a nutritionist can yield a myriad of information when it comes to finding recipes and certain foods that contain no gluten or ingredients derived from gluten. It is important to work with a dietician to find substitutes that can be used for these foods so the person that is following the gluten free diet can still maintain the vitamins and nutrients which are necessary to lead a healthy lifestyle. Speaking with the family physician can yield information about a referral to a registered dietician who can lead the individual with this information, pamphlets and support groups and internet websites that contain all of the information necessary to lead a healthy and normal lifestyle.
Unfortunately, there are many children that suffer from Celiac’s disease and therefore must live with the repercussions that come with the disorder. When designing a diet plan for children that are suffering from Celiac’s disease it is important to alert all people that are caring for the child, including staff at daycare and school centers about the special dietary requirements which are required for the child and the repercussions that can occur when the child has been exposed to these types of food. Informing all of the adults in the child’s life can reduce the instances that the child will be exposed to gluten products.
