Fibers are not absorbed into the bloodstream, but the nutrients and vitamins are absorbed within the body and are used to create energy within the body. This energy can increase the chances of the dieter losing weight and increasing the metabolism. These fibers assist the body to excrete the toxins and other harmful parasites from the body.

High fiber foods are considered to be those that have over five grams of fiber per serving. There are many foods that are high in fiber that can benefit the body and promote weight loss. Whole grains, bran and other cereals, dried fruits like apricots and all types of berries. Blueberries, raspberries and strawberries are all foods that are high in fiber. Broccoli, spinach and nuts are high in fiber as well. When these foods are combined it can mean that the diet will be plentiful in fiber and lead to an ongoing weight loss program that is effective.

• Eating a high fiber diet can assist in weight loss. There are many ways that a high fiber diet can reduce the instance of weight that is gained.
• Foods that are higher in fiber help the dieter to feel fuller and eat less through the meal. These foods can help to reduce the calories which are consumed when high fiber diets are eaten early in the meal. High fiber foods can also reduce snacking and cravings because they can lead to feelings of satisfaction.

Healthy adults should consume at least twenty grams of fiber per day.
